CHANGE FOR BETTER. - With this philosophy, dean&david was launched by David Baumgartner in Munich in 2007. On a six-month trip around the world after university, David was inspired by his various favourite places: modern salad bars in New York, fresh juice and smoothie stores in Australia or cookshops on the streets of Southeast Asia. Back in Munich, David redefined fast food: healthy, fresh, sustainable. Starting in a small fresh food factory behind Munich University, dean&david is now known beyond the borders of German-speaking countries.

Challenge & Action

Aquila's founder Simon Schrämli recognised the potential of the healthy-fast-casual nutrition concept for the Swiss market early on. In 2012, he took over the franchising of the brand, which was gradually expanding in Germany, in Switzerland and opened the first dean&david branch in Basel that same year, with others gradually following.

Result

Expansion for Switzerland is currently in full swing. After the difficult pandemic phase for the gastronomy sector and subsequent consolidation, the signs are now fully set for growth again. With the two current openings in Zurich-Oerlikon, there are currently 7 stores operating in Switzerland.
